Often it happens that you're going away and there's a pile of tasty food in the fridge. On one such occasion the pile included salami, thin roast beef and chestnut mushrooms. The salami went on the bottom of a lightly oiled pan to crisp slightly, then the spare beef. The mushrooms fried in the juices of everything and then went on top.
Along side this there were some mushrooms frying which went on top of the beef.
Finally, some of the finest vintage plastic cheese on the top to melt over the pile.
But wait, there's more! Before all of this started happening in the pan, I'd started cooking some breaded chicken pieces that also needed eating. A couple of those got thrown on to the sandwich with a squirt of mayo on top for good measure.
Just for an extra bonus level of flavour/the left overs in the pan (and what wouldn't fit in the sandwich) made a nice... jus. Well, maybe more like a gravy. At any rate it was good.
